Though Chrome CAN download from the FTP link: Try this: -copy the FTP URL from the address bar in Chrome -open Windows explorer (NOT THE BROWSER, but 'This computer') -Paste and enter the FTP URL in the Explorer address bar. If you did set Chrome to be your default browser, then Chrome will open a new tab and download the FTP file anyway. (scratch-on-head-emoticon) To answer TJ-IN-AK: Yes you can report directly from the browser: To the right of the address bar you have a document icon 'Manage current page' (I'm guessing this transaltion from dutch) If you open it there should be a menu item with something similar to this: 'Report bug or dead link' narendrakumarachari 14/1/2009, 3:16 น. Thank you MisterR, Way better than my workaround above. Same problem appears all over the internet.
FTP is a file transfer protocol designed to move whole files from one computer or server to another. Transferring files by FTP is much faster than using other methods like HTTP, which is designed for transferring text and images, rather than data files. Mac computers have an FTP client built into the operating system.
(Not just Dell, HP has the same problem as many others, if not all ftp download links on the internet) You say you can browse on your own server. Did you find a FTP download link on the internet that works for you? The simple fact that Chrome needs the refresh, and MS-Internet Explorer doesn't suggests that it IS a chrome problem. My best guess is: Time-out issue, or switching from HTTP to FTP.
Let's hope we get this fixed - Chrome is a great piece of software. Tomorrowsmusician 4/2/2009, 19:35 น.
Hi guys, Thanks much for all your help in describing these problems. We've been hard at work fixing this and have resolved this issue in the developer build of Chromium. This means that you won't encounter this issue while running the Chromium developer build you download today, however please be aware that the developer build is working a lot of kinks out and will be less stable than the Google Chrome stable build (as the name suggests.) If you can live with the workaround (thanks tijnepijn and MisterR:P), know that the fix for this will eventually make it's way to the stable build.
You can find notes on the fix and how you can download the dev build below. Thanks again guys!
Shawn robin502 23/2/2009, 14:05 น. V.4.0.249.0 can't say what you guys were seeing before as I was using fireftp until a couple of days ago.
But all appears fine now. Only tried this on anon login ftp but: right-click 'save link as' for any files that can be displayed ie.txt.cue.nfo (or it will just open the file and display in browser) - works fine for any executable files, just clicking them will open the save dialog. Can't say about.zip or the like as I haven't tried. But no probs with.bin.exe and the like.
Probably easiest just to right-click save for all links. Tested dloaded files, all fine. Thank god for that, because I rely on ftp for work, without it I would've been forced to go back to ffox, which after v3.5+ has been running like a slug on valium IMHO.
Keep up the good work google-ites. A dedicated FTP extension would still be very nice.;) ewell88, 19:20 น. I can’t say that anything that I am about to say has anything to do with this problem but let me throw this out there.
We had this same problem at work. (I believe), it started when we went from Internet Explorer “IE” 7.x.xxxx.11 to 7.0.5730.13. We could no longer use our own FTP site at work. It does not work with IE 8 either. Ok, so what does this have to do with Google Chrome? Maybe nothing, maybe something Here is the link to the MS article on why it does not work: Forget about the resolutions or workarounds, but look at the “More Information” section. Especially starting with this sentence: “Internet Explorer does not support home directories and the relative path of the FTP URL” What I had found was, our FTP site was created in this same exact manner, with home directories.
How can the normal user find this out? They probably can’t. Our workaround??? Use Windows Explorer or click on My Computer and type the FTP site in the address bar. In other words, if you start windows explorer and try to go to the FTP site and it works, this might be how the FTP site was created. I just installed Google Chrome and thoroughly enjoy it. The fix to this problem would probably go along way to us distributing this browser within our Enterprise.

Connecting to your site using sFTP Updated on 12-August-2018 at 5:43 PM Business Catalyst End of life announcement -. Using SSH File Transfer Protocol (SFTP), you can upload large quantities of files to your site, including web pages and images. If you are new to working with FTP/SFTP, see on Wikipedia. Understanding SFTP clients There are many free third-party SFTP programs that you can download and use for free. Note that some are platform-specific, ensure that you download the software that matches your operating system.
![]()
The list of supported sFTP clients is provided below:. Mac OS X, and Windows. this sFTP client is a Chrome extension. Linux, Mac OS X, and Windows.
Turbo FTP client & SFTP client. Windows only. Windows only. MAC OS X You can find other SFTP clients by searching on the following terms using your favorite search engine: Download free FTP client.
Note: There are some SFTP clients that are incompatible with the system. These SFTP clients, such as Expresso or Transmit FTP, delete and reupload a file instead of overwriting. This method leads to lost metadata from the our service. If you have issues with modules such as content holders creating a new ID every time you upload, try switching to one of the above supported SFTP clients. SFTP account details There are a number of FTP clients you can use to connect to your site. Regardless of the client you use, the SFTP connection details for your site are as below:.
Host name - your Site URL (example.worldsecuresystems.com). Protocol - SFTP / SSH File Transfer Protocol. Port - 22. User name - example.worldsecuresystems.com/jdoe@mailcom/dw.
Password - Your admin login password. FTP mode (if necessary) - Passive Note: Ensure that you follow the below guidelines using the above SFTP account details:.
![]()
Replace 'example.worldsecuresystems.com' with your site's domain name. Replace '[email protected]' with the email address you use to log in to the admin of your site. Do not forget to add /dw at the end of the username.
Do not append to the host name or user name. If your site is still a trial/temporary site and you have not added your own domain just yet, use your system URL (yoursite.worldsecuresystems.com). If you are still unable to connect, verify that the network you are using does not have a firewall set up (such as a corporate office or a government agency). This type of network security could result in FTP connection issues. If you suspect that you are behind a firewall, try connecting outside the office, using a different network. SFTP server fingerprints Some clients may also ask for the SFTP server fingerprint to validate the connection.
